Pics from clutch install

Not really a writeup or anything, but some might find this informative. Here's some pics I posted on another forum of my McLeod clutch set and Pro 5.0 install.

why was there 3 springs left out of the clutch. that doesnt make sence. ive broke the springs out of 3 clutches so i had to go and have a solid disc clutch built that wont break. and it seems that if you have a clutch with 3 spring to absorb the shock when you could have had 6, i would think that you would be more ap to get coil bind on those springs and break them and then they get all in the fly wheel.

what kind of clutch is that. mine was a 6 puck clutch.

No springs were left out in the new disc. The reason some are red and some are black is there was a rubber cover over some of the springs. Also, there were no inner springs. The McLeod clutch uses 6 smaller, stiffer springs, while the stocker used 5 springs that were longer, and had both inner and outer springs (so 10 total). The springs don't really have an effect on the performance of the disc, they just filter out vibration and noise and give you somewhat smoother shifts.

The issue I was having was with it going into gear. I dropped the trans and double checked everything (especially the way the fork went on) and buttoned it all up again and now its fine. 600 miles later, the clutch is grabbing like a **** and I love it. Its a little noisy though. Mostly from the TO bearing.

I'm only putting about down about 300 hp right now. I have read the clutch is rated to 450 hp and you can spin it up to 7500 RPM. I figure by the time I am in the neighborhood of 450 hp I'll get the Street Twin. BTW - I love the shifter.
