Performance Rear End Ratio
Performance Rear End Ratio
Ok, I was just looking at my window sticker for my 2000 Camaro and it says that I had the optional Performance Rear Ratio for $300. What was the ratio for that option for an Automatic Transmission? I am trying to compare it to the one I have now.
Re: Performance Rear End Ratio
Your Service Parts label should have "GU5" for the 3.23:1 rear axle. The base, without the performance axle ratio was 2.73:1 (GU2). I think with the 3.23 rear, you also got a "1" for 1st gear on the console shift lever indicator. Otherwise, there was no "1", and the lever was blocked from moving into 1st gear by a plastic tab (which was easily removed).
The performance axle ratio was only available with the 4L60E. All T56 6-speed manuals from 1994-2002 came with the GU6 3.42:1 (GU6) ratio.
Useful 4th Gen info... most of it is correct.
4th Generation (1993 - Present)

Re: Performance Rear End Ratio
Thank you very much. I found it when I changed my search words. So I have the same rear end in my 2002 Camaro but it does not have the same get up and go. Back to the fuel filter.
