Question new Spec 2 clutch performance?

Well I just got my new Spec stage 2 clutch installed along with new slave and master cylinder. the clutch engages really easy and the pedal is just as easy to push in as stock. The thing is I had a guy do it "under the table" at a GM dealership so save some cash and I'm wondering if he just replaced the slave and master cylinder and told me he did the clutch without actually doing it b/c i can tell no difference from what was in it before (which i think was stock being it only has 72,xxxmiles. it doesn't make any noise like some ppl say Spec clutches do and i have yet to crack on it b/c i'm doing the 500mile break-in. What's an easy way to tell if it is a new clutch????? I just figured that being new i wouldn't be able to slip it out at all and when i take off it's smooth as could be and i thought that a spec stage 2 would be jerky engaging being it's a performance clutch. any opinions? Maybe he did install it and i just was expecting a HUGE diff and there isn't one.

well I can def tell a difference between the stocker and my spec stg 3. Some easy signs of a new clutch would be it engaging sooner in the pedal travel. Did you replace it because your stocker was slipping or as a preventative type deal? Hopefully someone with some stg 2 experience will chime in.

it was somewhat preventative but with the 17x11's it would slip some at the track after a few passes. once it's broke in going to the track so if it still slips at all i know i got screwed i guess. is there any kind of inspection plate i could remove or look at to tell? I can't really say it engages any sooner though

With a hydraulic clutch you probably will not notice a different engagement point with a new clutch. There is an inspection cover you can pull, 4 bolts, but all you'll be able to see is the edge of the pressure plate. If it looks new then it likely is. I went from a stock clutch to a RAM setup to a SPEC stage 2, and all three acted exactly the same. The SPEC did have a bit of chatter, but as far as pedal pressure and whatnot it felt like stock. Even at the track it would slip after an agressive launch or two(heat!), but if I dumped it it would grab pretty good. I

'd never buy another one though, simply because I didn't feel it was that great of a clutch to beat on. If I were you I would take the inspection cover off and have a look.
