ADVANCED QUESTION: PLEASE HELP!

I need some serious help.

I am in the process of doing an LT1 swap into a 4th gen, and I went from auto to stick.

the problem seem to come from the dash harness. the only harness that the store had was for an automatic, and he told me that through some minor mods, i could connect it and have it working for a stick.

the shop owner had an official gm service book on the 94 camaro, and wrote down what needed to be done.

I lost that damn paper! I need serious help!

everything in the car is working, but once the car turns on, the neutral safety switch kicks in, and makes the car think that the automatic is on drive. There is a way to trick the computer but splitting certain wires and hardwiring them.

When you removed the auto shifter there should have been a plug attached to it. It is long and thin with six wires. Two wires are for the neutral safety switch. The two thickest wires are for the switch. You can connect them and the car should turn over. You can run them to the neutral safety switch at the clutch if you want it to operate.

actually, I wanted to clarify it a little more.

first off, thank you for your help. this is the only thing holding back my car on a swap.

I am in the process of swaping a 3.4l auto to a 5.7l 6 speed.
Now, I do all my business with TAcreationsusa.com and i bought a dash harness from them. The harness is a 94 auto. I bought the auto because they didnt have a manual harness, and they werent going to get one anytime soon.

he wrote down for me the difference in the harnesses. I lost that paper,and my mechanic ran everything properly.

The car wont turn over becuase it thinks it is in drive.
NOw, you are saying that the auto shifter needs to be cut and hard wired?

Ill have him try it out, and if thats not the case, ill end up buying the book!

On an auto the neutral safety switch is on the auto shifter. The wires for it run under the console. On the end of those wires is a connector that connects to the switch. It has six wires on it. Two are for the neutral switch. Two are for the reverse lights. And two are for the hatch release. Cut the two largest wires and connect them together. That should allow your car to start. One guy on the board said he only had one thick wire and the rest were the same size. If that is the case try the thick wire and the one next to it on the connector. This is the way a stock car is set up. Since you have swapped a harness things could be diffrent. Good luck.
