need a new flexplate

after reading some of the threads i found in a search, i have these questions

i need a new flexplate

questions.

1. Do i need to get an internal or external balanced flexplate?
2. What brand do i need for my setup (I/H/E, stall, built trans and 125 shot)?
3. Why is hte GM performance parts one in Jeg's have a 10.75" bolt pattern and the TCI has a 10.5" bolt pattern for the converter?

thanks!!!

1.Depends on your engine. if it is stock get the external balanced flex plate, if it is a modified bottom end, ask ur machinist.( i know this is true for m6 not sure about a4s)

2. Im going to guess that I/H/E is intake/head/exhaust, intake: any aftermarket bigger name company will do e.g. moroso, k&n, slp, etc. and they are all around the same price. head: U can have ur heads ported by lloyd elliot who i would recomend after he did my head cam and combo, and with the better flowing heads you want a cam to get the most out of it. check his website out at http://www.eportworks.com
as for exhuast, since u are going to be spraying, set of 1-3/4 longtubes would be best(when spraying u want bigger exhaust) i would recomend pacesetters, there is usually a sale going on, but if u have to deal with emissions or bumpy roads, u might consider the mac mid lengths. most of the catbacks flow about the same, i have slp lm, a little to loud imo ( i do have headers and !cat though), i want to change out to a borla muffler and see how it sounds.
3. are u looking at the bolt pattern or the size of the converter?
hope this helps

haha, thanks for the input but i think you mis-interpreted my post

i HAVE intake/headers/exhaust on my car. my flexplate on the car now has been bent by a bad torque converter install and i need to get a new one. the torque converter is under warranty so that'll be free. i was asking what brand of flexplate i need.

basically i need to know if i need a internally or externally balanced flexplate. the motor is a stock rebuilt unit so i'm assuming it's internally balanced. per factory specs.

anyone shed any light on this?

Jegs sells an externally balanced 153 tooth flexplate that works on our LT1's. It's less expensive than any other I've found. It's SFI approved, and costs less than a stock GM plate. It's part number 555-60-153, and it sells for $56.99.

did you have to get it machined to put it in balance? or just bolt it on there and let it ride?

You should never have to machine a flexplate.
