Need a little Info on replacing the pinion seal.

I'm replacing my pinion seal today and I would like to know what the best way to tighten the pinion bolt back up?
I was thinking of using a torque wrench and seeing what torque the nut comes loose at and then retorque it to that spec.
Thanks for any help,

That wont work. You can either mark it and ge the turns back exactly right or pop the calipers off and measure the rotating torque with a recording torque wrench and do it that way. It really needs the axles out when you do that but I bet you could just get the brakes off so it moves without drag and do it that way. Without the axles, its like 15-20 lb in or so (used bearings).

There's got to be an easier way of doing it.
I would do it like the dealer or a shop would but I have a cheap impact gun and it won't be tight enough.
I just don't understand why my idea won't work as long as I don't crush the crush sleeve I'm not changing anything with the gears.
BTW I have never set up gears but I understand how to do them.
Maybe you can explain why my Idea won't work?
I would think my idea is better than hitting it with an impact gun.
And I'm sure they would do that any where I took the car.
Let me know thanks,

Loosing torque /= tightening torque. Best way is to do it like he said.

Marking it and counting the turns off is the easiest driveway method. Just tighten it another 1/8-1/4 turn when re-installing it.
