Need help on TV cable

I need to adjust my TV cable on my 93 but I cannot seem to get it to move, All of the instructions that I found on the net seems to talk about a "D" shaped adjuster but mine does not have one. The top of my cable has a square hole with 2 rectangular wells on each side of the cable. The bottom of the clip has a cylinder with fins on it. Since I put the wet plate kit on I cannot go to WOT due to the cable not pulling out any more, I am missing about 3/16 of travel now. I did move the bracket forward but it cannot go any further due to the shape of the intake manifold. Anyone that has done this and can help me out please post up.

Throttle Valve Cable
The Throttle Valve (“TV”) cable must be installed and adjusted correctly for proper transmission operation. The TV cable adjustment affects shift point, shift feel, detents, and downshifts.

Adjust the TV cable after the transmission has been installed in the vehicle. Adjustment of the TV cable must be made by rotating the throttle lever at the carburetor or throttle body. Do not use the accelerator pedal to rotate the throttle lever.

Stop engine.

Depress and hold down the metal re-adjustment tab at the engine end of the TV cable.

Move the slider until it stops against the fitting.

Release the re-adjustment tab.

Rotate the throttle lever to its full travel position.

The slider must move (ratchet) toward the lever when lever is rotated to its full travel position.

Check that the cable moves freely. The cable may appear to function properly when the engine is stopped and cold. Recheck after the engine is hot.

Road test the vehicle.

The problem is that my car doesn't have the metal tab that all of the adjustment scenarios talk about. I am tempted to order a new cable from the GM dealer to see if it has the tab.

Some of them have a button that you push in and then slide the adjuster back and forth. They are all adjustable so don't buy a new cable. Sometimes they get stuck over the years from never being moved.

Post up a pic of it if you can and we will show you what to do.

I'll try to post a pic of it tonight but after looking at some of the cables online, mine seems to be missing a piece on the top. The piece that is missing is probably the adjuster. The local dealer has one in stock so I will go over tonight and take a look at it also. I wonder if it can be adjusted if it is missing the push button?

You have to remove the trans pan to replace the cable too.

The pan does not have to come off to do this. Get a picture up here so it can be seen.

Your cable bracket is circled in red. Just behind that bracket is your adjustment button. It's not "D" shaped on our '93's, it's square. Just push down in the center of that square. You may have to use a WIDE blade flat screwdriver.

I looked at one yesterday when I went to the dealer. The top piece of plastic that makes the "button" is missing. I must have hit it the last time that I pulled the motor. Guess I will buy a new cable to replace this one. I didn't get any pictures last night due to it raining off and on last night when I got home.
