Moser 9 inch Question

Just put a 9 inch with Detroit locker in my car. It is VERY loud! I was told the locker would be alot louder but this is crazy.
Anybody here have this set up, and is yours loud?

I'm guessing the locker is in a car that sees significant street time, otherwise why would you care about noise? I don't think there are too many people who would care to run a locker on the street. But except when it locks and unlocks, in which case it makes a god awful clunk, it shouldn't be terribly noisy. Of course, it's hard to diagnose a noise without hearing it. If it whines, the ring and pinion setup should be checked. If it clunks, that what they do.

Why did you get a locker? Just curious. I suppose a race car, that very very rarely goes on the street, would be a logical use. Otherwise

Yes if its a clunking noise when your turning then thats ok. Whine noise I would check my gear lash then, to loose or to tight. Will wear out a set of gears real soon. If you catch it before a wear pattern forms on the gears then you can correct it.

It is not really clunking that is loud it`s the whine of the gears. It makes noise when you accelerate and when you let of the gas. I didn`t know if any of this could be because of the locker or just the set up on the ring and pinion. I have heard that Moser tends to have some loud rears.
The car is driven on the street a little bit but for the most part is just raced. It has a full cage and no carpet or rear seats, so I guess that would make it easier to hear any rear end noise.
I guess I will call Moser and see what they have to say.
