Moser 12 bolt fluid and abs question

Hey guys, I had a question. I am getting ready to install my new moser 12 bolt. How much fluid goes into this rear? Also, what type of fluid/additives do you recommend, Royal Purple with the GM Additive?

ALSO, I bought my moser with the ABS option, i think that puts some type of hole at the top of the pumpkin for the sensor to go in i think? Is that correct? If I choose not to run abs anymore is there a plate i should buy to cover that up, or just install the sensor and not connect it? People are talking about some wire that should be comming out of the pumpkin, I only see a hole there with tape over it, looks like a sensor bolts into it. Anyone have any pics?

The ABS sensor wiring is all external... nothing goes into the hole on top of the pumpkin, except the sensor. If you don't want to use the ABS, just leave the sensor in there and disconnect the harness connector.

Thanks Injuneer

Anyone have an idea about how much fluid it takes?

Probably just a little bit more than the stocker. Stocker is 3.5 pints. Buy 2 quarts, fill it until its level with the bottom of the fill hole. Or buy 3 quarts so you have a spare. Does Moser still not include any decent instructions with that thing?????

If it has an Eaton or other clutch type posi, do NOT use synthetic fluid. I use generic gear oil (plus posi additive when needed) in all my rear ends. Rears are not that tough on lubricant - nothing like what engine oil goes through. I also almost never change the fluid - just check the level every year or so.

Also, can you recommend me a t56 non synthetic fluid also for my new trans?

I ran red-line syn gear lube in my Moser 12 (tru-trac). The syn can leak past the axle seals. Bad for the rear brakes. I'm trying lucas stabilizer(1 Qt), and, it seams to work. I had over filled, and the Moser will push out oil from the vent no matter how high you have it. Moser requires an elevated vent according to instructions. Now I just fill untill fluid exits from the forward plug. (97ss 383 - D1) B.

I emailed a moser tech a while ago about what oil to use and he told me that they recommend 80w90 non synthetic gear oil with a bottle of GM limited slip additive.

To change the oil I just remove the bolt from the side of the differential, and fill it up from the opening on the top of the cover until some spills out from the side.
