Might have too much power for my 4.10's
Might have too much power for my 4.10's
Last year I had no tire slipping issues with my Cooper 2XS Zeons 245/40/17, I could ease out in 1st, floor and it hooked every time with the 4.10 gears.
Now I cant do this, of course I have installed headers, pulley, LT4 valve springs, 1.6 RR's, new tune and pulled the catalytic converter. If I smoke the tires real quick they get sticky enough for a hard launch.
If I still have this problem once things warm up a bit I might need to go to 3.73's cause I want the thing to hook.
Oh, well. I guess too much power is not a bad thing.

Re: Might have too much power for my 4.10's
i would think it would be cheaper to try something like relocation brackets and a poly torque arm mount to help firm up the rear.
could make all the difference.
could make all the difference.

I will get the poly mount too.

There's no such thing as "too much power". Your problem is "not enough traction".
A 245/40-17 is a pretty skinny tire, and its way undersized for diameter, with narrow sidewalls. The fact that it is 1" smaller diameter than a stock tire is making your 4.10's act like 4.25's (if there was such a gear). Put some decent tires on there..... a 275/40-17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 would probably double the traction capabilities of the car. Or consider a drag radial for the track.
Then work on the suspension.

Whoops, typo.
I do have 275/40/17 Cooper 2XS Zeons.

Im not talking track problems here, I know the drag radials will hook like a big dog.
