Mcleod twin disk lt1 problems

My car is a 96 LT1 with a Mcloed twin disk. The car has been sitting the winter and now the clutch will not disengage. Has anyone had this problem? It does have the Mcloed master cylinder. Thanks Lee

I have the street twin, I've had to call mcleod a few times for a few things.

They are very helpful over there, give them a call.

Try to push the clutch in and start the car in gear. Most times this works. unless you have hydraulis problems!

Re: Mcleod twin disk lt1 problems

Hi it's Lee. Yestereday I checked to make sure the hydraulics of the clutch were working and everything was fine. Believe it or not I put a very small window in the side of the bell housing so I could check if the clutch was working without taking it apart. I had the car on my lift with someone working the clutch from in the car. With the clutch depress, it appears to have at least 3/16 of an inch of play between the disks and floater. It does appear to possibly be stuck on the fly wheels side. The car continues for move with clutch disengaged. Thanks for the help, Lee

Re: Mcleod twin disk lt1 problems

same thing happened with my lt1 street twin, had to take the tranny out and unstick the disk, i called Mcleod they said it was a common problem when the car isn't driven for a long period of time and a solution would be to cut a 2x4 a keep the clutch pedal depressed when not driving the car , i just make sure once a week i go out and start it and move it a little from now on durring the winter, so far no problems.

Re: Mcleod twin disk lt1 problems

If you can see the discs stick something in there when someone is holding the clutch and gently pry them apart. It likely wont take much. The reason it holds so tight is theres so much surface area on a street twin..Hence the better holding power at the same pressure!
