Mcleod ST flywheel balancer weight

I have a Mcleod ST with the steel flywheel. I'm installing it with my new 383 built by VRE. I noticed that it still has the weight attached to the flywheel. Should I remove it or is there some particular measuring involved that requires more than me simply unbolting the weight?

I used this same clutch and flywheel previously with my cammed stock block but never realized that a weight was there because I didn't install the clutch.

You can remove the weight, but I'd take the clutch to a good machine shop and have them spin it up to check for balance to be on the safe side.

Thanks Dave. How does that work? I just take the whole clutch and flywheel setup to a shop and ask them to check it? Do they need anything else from me?

Did VRE internally balance your 383?

Yes, it was internally balanced. I took it to the shop today and had the weight removed and some additional weight was removed for the neutral balance. Thanks guys. I just hope that it turns out perfect without any vibration, too much money has been spent on the motor at this point.
