Mcleod clutch install

here's my situation. i was having trouble gettin it into first, so i had to try to force it in there like 2-3 times before it went into place. and i had no reverse at all. so then one time i was pounding it through the gears and hit third but when i released the clutch i got nothin! then shortly after words i had no first.

Is there anything i will need to do to my Street twin? will i need the manuel to help install that? cuz i don't have one. does anyone know where i can get one? do i need to have it re-balanced? will the tranny shop know how to do that? will i need to contact Mcleod for anything?

thanks for your help!

Re: Mcleod clutch install

did you install the adjustable master cylinder? I hope you bleed it GOOD or you will destroy the tranny/clutch by forcing it into gears.

Re: Mcleod clutch install

Are you saying you already have it installed but are having trouble? OR were those problems with your old clutch???

I just put some installation tips and a link in that thread a couple days ago.

Re: Mcleod clutch install

these problems are with my ST now. and i don't have 1st or 3rd.

so do you think i will need to send my clutch out to Mcleod to have them balance it? should i also have the plates looked at too since its all out? i think they referbish(sp?) back to new for like 300 bucks (correct me if i'm wrong)? where can i get an alignment tool?

thanks for the link and your help!

Re: Mcleod clutch install

Let me get this straight you can get the car into 2nd, 4th, and 6th and not into 1st, 3rd, and reverse. So any time you shift down its ok when you shift up its not. The plastic cup where the shifter is inserted could be worn out. I have had my hurst shifter for 8 years and I'm not sure what they offer now but I have seen on Mustangs with adjustable stops for the shifter is it possible you have one these types on your car. I just really don't think you have a clutch problem considering you are able to get the car into the other gears with no problem.

Wait I had this same problem, if my memory serves me correctly. The two bolts that hold the shifting rod in place came loose. Causing me the same problem. Man I think that was it. Sorry its been a long time ago. I hope something I said helps Good Luck.

I agree with SVwhat, you should explore problems with your shifter and tranny since the clutch function doesn't care what gear you in or not in.
