Question manual oil change

there doesn't seem to be much about changing manual tranny oil on this forum. its probably in a chilton's manual but i'm too cheap to get one just for that.

has anyone changed their tranny oil before? anything to watch out for? this is for the B-W T5 that comes with the V6. but i imagine it would be similar for most manuals. it looks like the "hardest" part will be draining the oil.

anyway...

I dont have a T-5 but on my 6 speed all you do is remove the drain plug and let it drain. Once its finished just refill. Again i havent touched a t-5 but should be similar

I changed it when I changed my clutch, so I had the ease of filling it thru the shifter

yeah, i was just going to take off the shifter to refill, its woth the extra effort.

maybe you guys can answer another question then. i have about 52k on my car now. mostly highway. not much abuse or anything. its getting harder to get it into first gear at a stop and sometimes its stubborn going 1-to-2. i figure the clutch and T/O bearing should still be ok after only 52k miles.

so would an oil change help you think? or is my car telling me its time for a new clutch assembly?

so where's the durn drain plug and filler hole on the T5? I jacked up the car to rotate the tires today and i looked on both sides of the tranny and i saw nothing.

also I checked the clutch reserviour and the fluid looks cloudy and really dark. would boiling cause this? and if so, what would cause it to boil?

thanks.
