Re: Making 4L60E manual

Go here and look at TransGo kits:

Look at the third item from the top--it is a kit that converts to full manual. Also do a web search for TransGo for more info.

Thanks for the weblink. TransGo product seems interesting.
Will it have full automatic mode in D? Any experience with this valve body kit?

Do a search on Google for Tranny Tricker.
Yank Converters makes a push button setup that I have some experience with and it seems really simple to use. Nothing fancy about the setup either.

Re: Making 4L60E manual

I have searched the Goolge for some hours now, but all I have is that manual 1-2-3 and backshifting at any speed. That is clear, but no luck for info about will it be auto in D.

Will try more...

To my knowledge its an all or nothing deal.

If you want manual shifting the shifter must be in O/D and then you can select the gears with the buttons in the setup I've seen.

when you have a full manual valve body you have to shift every gear no automatic mode

What would be the good shifter to have with manual valve body? I quess the factory one will not take it long, if you shift rapidly with it

Would this fit in to my 1994 Firebird Formula?
http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id...subcat=1&pid=8

I noticed, that it is for 82-92 camaro-firebird. But will it go in with some modifications at all? Or what have you used?

Re: Making 4L60E manual

I got a Pro Stick on my TH400 and love it. The only other setup I would've went with was a Turbo Action Cheetah SCS.

You'd have to make sure you get the 4-spd gate for the 700R-4 though, or modify a 3-spd gate.

Re: Making 4L60E manual

My TransGo kit allows manual or automatic operation and downshifting at any speed/rpm -- not always a good thing

It is not the full manual valve body but will hold first until I shift it, same with 2nd and 3rd. in drive or overdrive, it will behave like a 3 or 4 speed auto tranny.

Re: Making 4L60E manual

Ok, I have learned so far, that there is a possibility to make 4L60E fully manual. TransGo has a kit for that:
http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/...-000359353.htm

It is also advised to use vacum pressure control with that kit like this:
http://www.transmissionpartsusa.com/...-035935mod.htm
Why is that good?

Any other hints for me? What should be done to the transmission to make it work good and last longer when fully manual? I have TCI Pro rebuild Kit inside the transmission already, with Corvette servo and Shift Kit. Converter is 2200 stall speed.

Re: Making 4L60E manual

why not get a b&m rachet shifter, or something tht does rachet shifting, and get a reverse manual valvebody, so you just shift up every gear?
