M6 to a4 swap

Hey how is everyone?

Have a question I've been searching for hours for a thread that has a writeup on a m6 to a4 conversion and I can't seem to find a complete one I have found plenty for a auto to m6 but none from m6to auto I'm looking to swap to a 4l60e... And wounding if it's possible to use my m6 harness and splice in necessary connectors needed for the auto
Thanks

Going M6 to A4 is actually easier than the other way around. You'll need to get a flexplate and converter, an A4 crossmember and torque arm mount, and an A4 pedal assembly and shifter. Your wiring harness does not have the provisions to control the transmission. You'll either need to get a stand alone transmission controller or go with a 700R4, which uses a TV cable and a mechanical governor. I went with the latter when I did my swap. You'll have to cover the hole in the floor for the shifter and the hole in the firewall for the clutch pedal. The only tricky part was controlling the torque converter clutch lockup. For that, I had the trans guy wire the solenoid to only work in 4th gear, and then I ran the circuit through a brake pedal switch and also a vacuum switch. That way, it will disengage when you step on the brakes and also when you give it heavy throttle.

Stand-alone transmission controller, 700R, OR...

Switch to an equivalent year PCM and harness. You may get lucky and find one for sale.

I think I'm going To go with a 4stb.... Non computer controlled full manual valve body... From a local shop freddy brown transmissions...I feel more comfortable doing it this way... No need to deal with any computer issues.... Over the winter I will have a t56 transmission with centerforce clutch for sale 20k miles if Anyone is interested

M6 to A4

Hi,

I have a 96 TA and I want to do the reverse swap. I will have a brand new (rebuilt with beast shell, extra clutches, shift kit, servo etc.) never put oil in
4l60E trans with a brand new 3500 PTC converter never run and I would be willing to swap wiring, pedals, crossmember, etc...could make both of our lives a little easier? Think about it.

Bud
