I just got a 01 Z-28 with six speed trans. The shifter has a leather ball with a big H so I assume it is a Hurst short shifter???? Anyway, going from first to second feels like I have to force it. No syncro noise, no grinding, just a non smooth transition. Is this normal, or a shifter problem? Thanks

 

No its not normal. I have the same problem, but it was not always that way. Mine does not grind either but I am pretty sure the 1-2 syncro is worn. All other gears shift fine, I just try to either skip 2nd if I can or double clutch 1-2, until I have time off to fix it.
