lt1 clutch slipping help!
lt1 clutch slipping help!
I just got my 355 done about 600 miles ago. Before my rebuild, my zoom clutch had about 4k on it. When I had everthing done at my machine shop I had them resurface the flywheel cause I didn't do it when I did the clutch. Now everything is back together and I'm driving the car but the engagement is at the very top of the pedal almost to the point where I can take my foot completly off the clutch and it slips itself when taking off. its also slipping if I give the car anymore than 1/8 throttle. Seems to be worse in high gears. Anyone have any advice
Re: lt1 clutch slipping help!
a good machine shop will offer shims for the amount they machined off. think about it like this, they shave off metal say .050 thats alot but for demonstration purposes it will help you understand. this is now how much further the clutch must travel to engage. it does not surprise me that a. the clutch slips after machining the flywheel and this being the only thing that changed in your set up and b. your starting with a clutch disc that has already been broken in on a flywheel that wasnt machined. your options as i see them is to get a new clutch disc and possibly a new flywheel or get in touch with the machine shop that did the work and ask if they can come up the specs of a new flywheel and measure that against the flywheel you have and get you shim hope this helps
