it happened when i was doing a 3 point turn. i was backing up and switched it into drive going probly 2 mph backwards. when it shifted into 1st it jerked harder than normal and 1st was gone. its an A4 and i have a couple questions. second on seems to be fine but i cant get it into 1st.could it possibly be low fluid? just wondering how much do u think it would cost to get it fixed (im guessing a good amount of labor) and also because i have been wanting to put an m5 in it would it be better for me to just get a used m5 and try to put that in?

ya everything works fine except 1st

 

im thinking it could be a solinoid in the tranny. A couple times after i started it up i was able to get it into first and it drove normally. then the next time no first gear. hen the next time it went into first gear once but when it shifted into second it wouldnt shift back into first. anyone got any pointers/
