Linkage failure only when running Q

On the way to work this AM ( in my 2002 SS 6 speed ) and battling / winning typical commute traffic battles when the fun was ruined as my transmission refused to shift into gear.

I recently started having some trouble with her remaining in gear (under hard accel) and she recently became “difficult” to smoothly run through the gears. Almost truck-like. Really wears down my confidence and I am not sure what to make of all of this.

I have owned this car alittle over a year and have been racking up lots of (troublefree) miles!

Since this is my first clutch experience began to wonder if 70K might be the magic number for a new clutch.

At any rate the problem became impossible to ignore when she flat refused to go into gear. I coasted into a parking lot and called my local auto repair shop. Sad start to the day as I had to watch her winched up onto the flatbed, and await word on what is wrong . .

Remember . . .it would shift through the gears when the motor was off - but NOT when it was running.. . . .a friend works at the shop and called and tipped me - rolled off the flatbed (several hours later) the car is behaving (shifting) normally now . . . the refusal to shift into gear strangely enough has gone away.

Not unlike a tooth that no longer hurts when finally seated in the dentist waiting room!

What does the collective wisdom of this group think?

I will post when the shop finally declares the root cause . . they will drive it a bit and evaluate further.

In the meanwhile any educated guesses?

Its sounds like it could be a problem with the hydraulic system not disengauging the clutch far enough, but if it pops out of gear that could be an internal trans issue.
