can you convert a limited slip to a posi rear end on a 78 z 28?

 

"Positraction" is just a name GM uses (or maybe used in past and not currently?) to describe a limited slip differential. There are a variety of units available for most rear ends. Randy's Ring and Pinion is a good source of parts and info for rear ends.

As stated in the above Post a Limited Slip and the shorten Name Posi (AKA Positraction GM's trade name) are ONE AND THE SAME.

 

on my car when you get on it only 1 tire spins,and it doesnt get much traction.

 

Then either the clutches in the limited slip unit are burned up, or it isn't a limited slip rear.

 

G80 is the RPO for the Limited Slip option.
