lets talk about locking the converter on a dyno

What is the point in locking it on a dyno? To see higher hp number? Is it hard on the transmission and the converter?

A dyno is an engine tuning device. Locking the converter takes away a variable so that the results you're looking at correspond more closely to what the engine is doing.
