Post L69 to 400 SB swap

Hey everyone,

I'm new to his website, but I do need some advice and I assume you guys know your stuff! I just bought a 1984 Camaro with the L69 5-speed manual (3.73 rear). What I need is to know the strengths of these parts! I am in the process of building a mean 400 SBC putting out 450+ hp. I want to just swap engines and leave the tranny and rear stock. Is that wise? If anything, I wanted to put a posi 3.73 12 bolt, and at least rebuild the transmission for good faith. I know I'll probably have to get sub-frame connectors with the torque and I'm already planning on replacing/repairing any suspension pieces that wear out. Is there anything else I am missing? Will it be a simple dropin (besides the hood-I'm getting a cowl induction)? Any help you guys can offer would be invaluable. Thanks!

Pete

I don't think that the tranny will take the intended abuse
If you want to stay stick then swap in a t56 six speed.
The 12 bolt rear is a really good idea too.
