kickdown cable maby?

i have a transmission issue i went to drive my z yesterday ran fine for about 45 min went to leave a stop sign and the transmission acted like first wasnt catching but when it finally got up to 35 mph it ran fine it shifted thru the rest of the gears fine right before i got home i manually ran it thru the gears and it took off perfectly in first gear went to shift into second it never shifted from 1st to 2nd until i put it into d so could it be the kickdown cable came out of adjustment or the shifter linkage is out of adjusment oh and checked the fluid in park with the engine running and it was over filled ive only owned the z for a month yesterday was the most wheel time ive had in it

thanks, mike

Welcome to CamaroZ28.com!!

Need to know year of vehicle.... that will determine whether the trans is PCM controlled.

Re: kickdown cable maby?

Your 94 has the 4L60E (electronic) trans - controlled by the PCM, no "kickdown" (TV) cable. The last year without the electronically controlled trans (= 700R4 = 4L60) was 1993.

Try scanning the PCM for codes. There are codes specific to the transmission, and they don't turn on the SES light.

Re: kickdown cable maby?

As Injuneer said, check the codes first. These transmissions are notorious for cracking the forward pistons. This allows fluid to leak past it and not fully apply the clutch pack. By pulling it down to manual 2nd gear, you bring on the over run clutches which help the forwards.
