Just put in Trans cooler

Installed trans cooler, easier than well almost anything on this car. I followed a few guide's I found in here. I used a Hayden 679 which I found at autozone. I pulled upper radiator shroud and mounted the cooler on the lower left hand corner of the radiator, with the inlet and outlet pointing towards the passenger fender, that was the hard part. The kit came with some metel clamps. From under the car, i took my dremel cut-off wheel and cut the metal hard pipe removing the hose section of the return line coming off the tranny(lower hose). The hose that came with the cooler was long enough to run both the inlet and outlet to the trans cooler line hard pipe, This took me about 30 mins at the most. When I cut the trans line only a small amount of fluid came out, less than a quart. I can feel the difference on how the trans shift after a few heat cycles. I'm getting a trans temp guage next to monitor it. This is the only mod i've done that make me feel better about the longevity of my car.

What's the GVWR on the cooler? Something around 24,000 lbs would be great

I hope you flared out that metal trans line a little before you just slipped a rubber hose and clamp over top of the end of it. A friend of mine had the line blow off on the highway because it wasn't flared out after he made the cut. Talk about a mess and a smoke show to boot! Trans fluid all under the car....

Grinding down the ends is good to help keep the metal from tearing up the rubber line. But, think about it....you have a straight metal line with a rubber hose slipped over it with a bunch of slippery fluid running through it. It won't take long for the line pressure to separate that connection. You need to flare out the end of the metal line so a hose clamp has something to grab on to.

This is good advice.... a friend of mine had this happen to him while he was racing somebody and the car caught fire. By the time he got the car stopped the whole car was burning as well him too. The car was a total loss and he spent the better part of a year in the burn unit! I would put two clamps on each end of the hose after flaring the metal line to be safe.
