Re: Just installed motive 4.10s
I had my GM 3.73s installed today by a shop. They have a very faint whine to them, not much more than what was with my 3.23s. All the installer did was take out the differential, unbolt the ring and rebolt the new one on, press the bearing off the old pinion and press it back on the new one. Like I said, there is a very faint whine or even a growl at all times with them.

This scares me a bit - I was thinking of having 4.10's put in my Zed.
My friend and I are going to do the job - he's a mechanic and says he can do it but.........he's never done a Camaro 10bolt before.

Re: Just installed motive 4.10s
Like I said earlier, my Richmond 4.10's are VERY tolerable
. They have a faint whine under acceleration, but nothing a little wind noise or radio volume can't over-compensate!
I wouldn't hesitate to put 4.10's into your car due to fear of them whining.
On the other hand, I had Richmond 3.73's that were setup perfectly and whined like a fat kid who had their ice-cream cone stolen. Pinion depth, backlash and pattern were all bang on, and double checked by a gear shop (just incase they knew something we didn't already know) and there was no fixing those gears. I got my money back for them from the speed shop where I bought them (I think I put the money towards my cat-back?
).
Even the guy at the gear shop agreed, sometimes there are gears that just won't setup without whining like hell. They're obviously just a bad grind
