How to tell 3.23's apart from 3.42's by looking?

Does anyone know how to tell the difference between 3.23 gears and 3.42 gears by just looking at them? I'm guessing it would go by counting the number of teeth on the ring gear?

on the side of the ring it should say like 41-10 so somehtin you simply divide the numbers

There's an even better way. Those numbers mean something- it's the teeth count on each respective gear.

Simply divide ring gear teeth by pinion gear teeth to find the ratio. It's as simple as counting and grabbing a calculator.
