By the way, I have a TA cover. So 4.5 is perfect. Sounds like the chatter is just due to the 800 # springs which makes sense.

Palehorse77,

Try reading the top of my post before you spout off.

Yes, I do drive an FBody. Yes, it has a 12 bolt. Yes, I've refilled it per my posted comments. Just restating standard & obvious procedures. Nothing different compared to what you stated but certainly not five quarts. Let's be constructive and have a little humor.

Regards
Steve

You fill to the fill level of the fill plug.

As noted in my post there is a set procedure for changing the oil and avoiding overfilling it. Yes, I used a little humor, but only for a little levity.

Strictly for the benefit of others inserting too much oil in their Moser 12 bolts, you DON'T fill to the level of the fill plug. You fill to approx 1/16 to 1/8 inch below the level of the "overflow plug" hole. Totally different port on the rear housing.

"FIVE Quarts!!! Look you have to know there is a specific method to drain and refill these units. Unfortunately, its extremely complicated.

First, drain old oil. Not necessary to turn the car over to get it out of the breather, just remove the drain bolt."

Look you have to know that your a f*&king idiot. I'm not refilling shi*(.

Therefore no old oil. Also Breather is locate about 10' forward in engine compartment.

Oh levity I get it turn car over no pun aHHH haaaa, thanks for the funny, yet helpful advice. Guys like you make this site what it is keep up the good work.

Palehorse77, you're an absolute horse's ****. Steve-d gave the right advice and you're an idiot for ignoring it. You obviously used the fill hole as the over flow hole. What a baffoon!! Its one thing to make a mistake, but a whole different issue to ignore a correction.

You used what? Five Quarts? Four and one-half quarts? What a Clown!

Open the overflow hole for the exact amount. Guess why Moser and Strange put the hole there? Certainly not for your pencil width third member.

Go ahead and ask your 'race" buddies where the vent hole on the 12 bolt is located. Guaranteed its not 10 feet from the rear end. Try looking at the passenger side axel tube, top portion. If you've done any racing, you'd be checking it for excesive overlow. But some how you seem all talk and I doubt you've ever seen a drag strip.

Steve I do appreciate helpful input. I was looking for opinions and I got one. Now If I remember correctly your reply was a little snide. So I played back. I may need to see a shrink but I'll be ok in the end.

Hey at least it was a lively discussion -

THere are a lot of dead bbs (forums) out there, at least this isn't one of them.

All being said I'd put up with Your BS than screw my brand new 12 bolt.

Best of Luck this season ,

I feel sorry for your differential assembly if you are only putting 4.5 pints in. fill until the stuff comes out the plug.
