Filled mine with two 23 oz bottles plus additional 13 oz of GM 80W-90 differential fluid, and one 4oz bottle of GM limited slip additive.

You don't need the GM anti-slip addititve if you use Mobil 1 synthetic. Just didn't want you to waste money.

Good point HBHRacing. Strange Engineering doesn't recommend synthetic in their 12-bolts.

I used 5 qts. of non-synthet. and I have a nice clunking sound in corners I love it.
I think I could have put more in but figured that would be enough since I as well had heard that about 5 qts would be max.

that could be part of the prob- they didnt supply instructions and also decided to press the bearings before shipping it.

I was some what less than impressed after spending 22oo. And now its chattering like a bitch. WTF would too much oil cause chatter?

FIVE Quarts!!! Look you have to know there is a specific method to drain and refill these units. Unfortunately, its extremely complicated.

First, drain old oil. Not necessary to turn the car over to get it out of the breather, just remove the drain bolt.

Second, replace the drain bolt, very important.

Third, remove overflow bolt. Located on passenger side-front of the unit. Its a large hex bolt I believe to be 9/16" Can't be sure. Best way to approach it is to use a 9/16" hex bolt and two jam nuts. Cheap allen wrench for a seldom used task. The purpose of the over-flow hole is to insure you've filled enough fluid and not over-filled it. Moser specifies it to be just a little (1/16") below the hole opening--just insert a small hose and drain a little extra or ignore it. The little bit extra won't hurt.

Fourth, insure you use dyno oil and not synth. Insert the fresh oil thru the fill hole located on the upper portion of the rear cover. Most certainly it won't be five quarts.

Bolt the plugs back. If you decided to drain thru the vent opening, turn car over.

Regards
Steve

WHo ever the hell steve d is pull your head OUT. Were talking rear ends here.

You fill to the fill level of the fill plug. Unless you have instructions telling you otherwise. Which I told you I didn't have.

Now going off of F-body.com instructions you use four qt.s I used about 4.5 with the friction mod. NEXT time wait till you come down off the crack to give advice.

Steve if you drive an Fbody, I dont want to know.
