Well the 10 bolt **** the bed and Im in need of a 12 bolt or 9 inch....help me with my decision...

I hear the moser 12 bolts are real loud with whine, how are the stranges???

should i go...

Moser 12 bolt w/ 4.10's
Strange 12 bolt w/ 4.10's
or Moser 9 inch w/ 4.10's

Im on a tight budget so the cheapest route to go is for me, so where is the cheapest to get one of these from???

I need all opinions on these...thanks guys

 

I have the strange 12bolt with 4.30 gears. Its been real quiet so far, in fact I cant hear it at all. I paid 2600 for it about 2 months ago. The bad side, they are 4-5 weeks out. I guess moser has a 2 day turn around. Stranges arnt mass produced like the mosers are, they actually take their time on each and every one.

 

Moser w/ 4.10's here...Sounds just like my 10 bolt did..

my strange 12 bolt was very quiet with 4.10's until I got on it hard the first time on the treet with drag radials. Now it wines pretty good whenever I let off the gas. When I'm going at a constant speed or accelerating it's quiet.

I waited I think 4 months for mine

Mine is fairly quiet in all conditions except "float"... when the gears are loaded then it's nearly silent, but when they are floating it whines... but really the only time I can hear it is when I have the windows up and stereo off.

 

There is an alternative to the 12-bolt if you don't mind some custom work. The early 90's Z-71 trucks came with a 8.6" 10-bolt rearend. Much better than the 7.6" we have and not too much smaller than the 8.8" that is in a 12-bolt. What you would have to do is fab up the appropriate brackets and get the parts to build the rearend. You would also need some 1" wheel spacers on each side to compensate for the width difference. It may be worth looking into considering the price of those Strange and Moser rears.

 

NA lt1 w/ M6 and Moser 12bolt w/ 4.30's and posi, was quiet throughout break in, and up until the first few launches, after about 15 runs now, its crazy loud, whines, sounds like its gunna blow up, not quite sure whats up w/ it, but if it blows up it blows up, i'll get a spool, haa i guess 1.60 60's w/ the m6 kill 12 bolts now?
