How to keep car (A4) in 3rd on the dyno???
How to keep car (A4) in 3rd on the dyno???
I'm just looking to find a way to keep the transmission from kicking down on the dyno for a true reading. I have LT-1_Edit if it can be tuned in that. I've only tuned OD (haven't messed with the D settings yet). Thanks in advance and take care.

floor your car in second and see what the max MPH is before it shifts...then just make sure you take the car up a little past that speed before you drop the hammer on the dyno.
you can also use a certain scan tool (sometimes referred to as a lock-out box) to manually lock the tranny in 3rd.
most techs that i've seen just make sure to keep the speed above the 2-3 shift point before making a pull.

I tried lowering the 2-3 kickdown point with no luck. Tried running the car in D versus OD (shot in the dark). I don't know where to get a "lock-out" box. Any other ideas? Thanks.

hmmm....can't say as i can explain that one. when they dyno my car, the tech usually just takes it up to around 85 mph (like 2800 rpm in my car) with the selector in D and floors it. it holds 3rd.
