high stall TC w\o head\cam

I am planning on getting a higher stall torque converter (yank 3600 maybe, don't really know yet) before getting my head/cam. Is this going to be hell to drive around town for as long as a semester until I get enough money for the head/cam? What size torque converter do you recommend for a TSP231/237 and patriot stage 2 head combo?

What motor? If a LT1 or LS1 then you should be fine. A friend of mine has a 4200 stall on a stock LS1 with no issues.I have a Yank 3200 on a bolt-on car and you can't even tell the stall isn't stock until you stomp it!

I'm running a TCI 4400 with our 231/237(stock heads) on my daily driver. If you are not looking to spray, I would recommend a 4000+ stall. If you are looking to spray it, then you will be alright with that converter. A 3600 should be fine to drive around on as a daily driver.

I guess I still don't really understand what changes with a higher stall... Wouldn't that rev really high all the time? This is going to be a daily driver... I don't really care about going to the track (even though I will be going occasionally). What I want is a kickass street car that will generally be pleasurable to drive. I still have to drive it in rain and occasionally from florida to oklahoma... I've heard from other people that with a stall converter around 4000 and upwards that you either drive like a granny or ...go really fast... I like how my car drives now. (stock with bolt-ons) I just wanted it to be a lot more powerful... oh yah, not goign to spray it.

The Yank SS3600 would probably be a good choice then.

If your just looking for a converter that will give nice performance on the street then I would stick with a 3600-3800. It should work for what you are wanting.

Would there be anything wrong with running a 3500 stall in my 91 T/A with the L98 motor with stock heads/cam until I am able to get my heads/cam and do my intake swap?

sorry to hijack your thread by the way

3500 rpm stall on a stock L98 would totally suck. Wait for some mods.
