Help- Gear Install Problems

So I have everything put back together except for the little springs in the posi unit. I took them off to get the c clips out and now that everything is back together i can't figure out how to put the springs back in. I tried everything, even compressing them with wire. So any answers would be apreciated. and it a series carrier if that makesa difference.

Oh man!!! What did you do THAT for?!?!?!?!?! If you haven't realized this yet, you don't need to pull the carrier apart to get the C clips in/out! All you do is pull the large "pin" that goes through the carrier (which is held in with a small bolt off to one side) and then push the axles in as far as they go ... the clips almost fall out, you just need a magnet to grab them. You can re-install them by hand.

Well, now onto your problem! Can you not compress those springs tight enough with a pair of needle-nose pliers or something?? You're just gonna have to keep fighting with them ... get one end up in place, and maybe use a large flat-blade screwdriver, or a flat scraper or something, and pry the other end into place . I watched my Dad pull an Auburn apart and reassemble it, but that was a couple years ago, so I don't remember exactly how hard it was to get those springs out and back in??
