Groaning/Squeeking when slowly turning

My car has been doing this a lot lately. When I first got it it was not too bad but now that the car has a few more miles it is starting to get worse. Whenever I take a turn slowly, doesn't matter which direction, it makes a groaning/squeeking noise and goes away when the car is straight. It does this in both forward and reverse. I searched but could not find what I was looking for. A couple of years back my buddy's 98 TA was doing the same thing and he added the limited slip additive in that little bottle to his rear end. Is this something that I need to do as well? Should I have my rear end gear lube changed? Thanks for the help.

Is the sound in the back or front? Could be low on power steering fluid or overdue for a fluid change.

Well the sound is pretty loud and it is coming from the back. I hope it's not my rear end going out. Would putting the limited slip stuff in help it at all?

Even WITH the LSD additive, mine still moaned and groaned like that . Only "fix" is a new carrier, unfortunately .

So would it be worth it to throw some 4.10s in it now? How much to fix it approximately?
