Re: gearvendors od

It's expensive and won't give you any performance gains per se.
However in cars with 3.73 and up gears it will drop 650 rpm off your cruising speed.
Forget about splitting gears while in WOT.
Completely impractical
Basically it allows you to run drag gears with an extra gear for thr highway. Makes A4 into A5.
For thems that can afford it.

Re: gearvendors od

just from reading this on the net and an artical in camaro performance they say you can split gears in wot or any throttle position. I dont know i was just researching it. I want to make my car alot quicker but if i change the gears i loose topend and gasmilage. i do alot of highway driving and the lose of gasmilage is not something i want to do with the price of gas at 2.55 a gal lol!! i dont know i am trying to get the best of both worlds i guess lol!!

Thanks
Shane

Re: gearvendors od

splitting gears is just hype unless you're running a truck or motorhome up a hill.
The unit takes a moment to engage and coordinating the A4 with shifting the thing will slow down the car.
It's great as a highway gear.
Made my 3.73 into a 2.91

Re: gearvendors od

so if it took your 3.73 down to 2.91 i could run something like 4.10 or maybe alittle higher and in od it would go down to somewhere around 3.23s or 3.42s?? my care has 3.23s right know from the factory and get decent gasmilage so if i could do the gearvendors and keep my milage up that would be great

Thanks for the help
Shane

Re: gearvendors od

just multiply the gear you choose by .78
3.73 times .78 = 2.91
4.10 would be close to 3.42

"SEARCH" is your friend.... this topic was covered in two threads in the last two months. There are at least two of us running these units.
