gears
i recently bought a 93 auto trans am. the guy i got it from didn't really know all that had been done to the car. i'm pretty sure the gears have been changed because the car shifts at 40 and 70-75. at 70mph in top gear the engine is a little over 2000. i'm thinking its probably 323 or maybe 342. the car was converted to a ram air trans am from a formula, very sweet. its had hypertech chip installed w/ 160 thermostat. Mid length headers, high flow cat with a borla system and the chassis has granatelli parts all over it (stut tower brace, subframes, panhard rods, and lca's) I'm very happy with the way the car launches and corners. I also noticed that sometimes when i make right turns i hear tire-squeal like the rear end is locked up and the right wheel wants to turn as much as the left. IS this normal? I'm thinking this car should be able to run in the mid 13's Any insight would be appreciated.
That definately isn't 3.42's it could be the 3.23's though. My 2.73's run about 2100 at 75mph on the freeway.
You can do the old way put the back on jack stands and see how many times the driveshaft goes around

by the way the squel is normal.....it's called sliding.....lol.(that's assuming you are talking about fast corners) if it does it when you are turning slow then that is different.
Someone here can help with the codes of the gears.......and i would check that first, GU? I know GU2 is 2.73's so if it is something other than GU2 than it has to be 3.23's cause those are the only two gears the auto's came with. I am guessing it will have the code for 3.23's and that's what is in it.
O yea and the code is in the glovebox..
