Front ABS Sensor Location/Transmission Shift Points
Front ABS Sensor Location/Transmission Shift Points
Can anyone tell me where the ABS sensor is located on the front of a 1996 Z28. Also, I heard if the sensor is not reading correctly it throws off the transmission shift points. Which is alos happening right now. Only gear 3 and 4. Oh yeah A4 transmission.
Re: Front ABS Sensor Location/Transmission Shift Points
If there was a problem with the ABS sensor the BRAKE light would be illuminated indicating there was a problem but it would not affect how the transmission shifts - the ABS and transmission are two separate systems.
Re: Front ABS Sensor Location/Transmission Shift Points
A faulty vehicle speed sensor (VSS) on the tranny output shaft can affect the shift points. There are several engine trouble codes that will defeat converter lock up. There are also numerous transmission codes that do not turn on the SES light. Have you had the PCM scanned?
Let's move this to the correct forum, since it's not an "engine" topic.

Re: Front ABS Sensor Location/Transmission Shift Points
Correct both the ABs light is on and traction control is turned off. Some one told me that since the computer is read abs sensors it affects the shift points because of the speed the vehicle is going.
Re: Front ABS Sensor Location/Transmission Shift Points
ABS sensors won't affect the transmission. It sounds like you have multiple problems. As Injuneer said, you might want to have it scanned to check for trans codes.

The ABS wheel sensors don't connect to the PCM. They connect to the EBCM (or EBTCM if you have traction control) - electronic brake control module.
