Have you checked your battery. If you didn't disconnect the battery while you were converting it could have run down from having the doors open and the dome light staying on.

The only wireing changes from the conversion that would affect the starter are the two wires to the neutral safety switch. They are the two largest wires on the six wire plug that went to the auto shifter. They can be twisted together for testing but I would run them to the clutch switch after testing.

Good call! Happened to my car ... I had it off the road for almost ~3 weeks from the time the A4 died, to getting the M6 swapped in. I did have the battery disconnected for the most part, but for the time it was still connected, I probably had the radio or something going (at least just the lights was enough I'm sure ) and my battery needed a boost to start the car the first time I wanted to road test it .

no battery is charged, just to make sure i put the charger on it and still same thing, ill explain whats happenign a little better now that ive messed with it more, the teeth dont seem to be making a very good connection with the flywheel, its basicly slipping off of the flywheel not completely but it wont even turn the motor over enough to start, anyone out there have a reason why this could be happening?? i mean the starter made great connection before on the a4 why would the teeth not be where they should be now its same starter as before and the flywheel was off my buddies car, actually the whole t56 conv. was off his car (practically no cost to me ) a guy i know who is into the drag strip cars a ton adn has been building strip cars told me i need to space the outside bolt of the starter down and in turn it'll bring the starter gear closer to the flywheel, thats one option, anyone else have any ideas on any of this

Something doesn't sound right . The teeth on the flywheel should be in the exact same line as before, so A4 -> M6 shouldn't make a difference. What year is your car, and what year did the donor parts come from? I don't know, maybe there was some change in the years??? Or is the flywheel an aftermarket or something??

problem turned out to be something faulty in the wiring when i would crank the car over so i had 2 choices i could make, search for hours or add a push button start so i did the obvious, Push button start and it works great. I like it a little better, i have a hidden toggle so i can turn it off and people dont try and start it while im driving thx for all the help guys, also if anyone decides to do the push button its very simple just buy the wiring and a button that'll handle the amps and voltage going through it, hate to see someone try and use 16 gauge and burn their car down

For anyone considering doing a t56 swap, i highly recommend it. Well worth the wait, and overall very easy, what little glitches you run into can be fixed and i just totally recommend it
