Drivetrain problem...need some help!

A friend of mine just bought a 94' Z28 A4. When you step on it, the engine turns up in rpm's but the car hesitates real bad before it starts to pull. I'm guessing that maybe the transmission is slipping but i'm not sure. Could it be something within the rear-end? We're both at a loss on this one.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Adam

Maybe an aftermarket stall?

Thats the thing theres no stall this is a completley stock 94z one owner an older guy its a GU5 rear end if you pull it back in to first and smack it the rpms tach up, it pops the rev limiter and everything and the car starts to move but doesent spin...its wierd. But,if you keep it in drive you can get it to turn the tires over, i dont understand. This guy has had the car since it was brand new i have the complete service history on the car and looking at the motor and rear end it looks like the dealerships he's dealt with have really screwed him oil leaks and the rear end at the fill fitting leak. The motor turns up quick and the body and interior are in good shape im not afraid of the wrench time but im stuck this is my first F body,I've wanted one for a really long time and ive got it and im not gonna let it go,but i need help from someone with more experince.(Nick z owner on my buddys user name)HELP PLEASE!!!!!!

Welcome to the hell of the stock 4l60e tranny. Take it to a tranny shop. I would bet money on that tranny being trash. Time for a rebuild. A tranny shop can tell you for sure and diagnose it for 30 to 60 bucks.
