Drivetrain
Re: Drivetrain
I have actually had the opportunity to test my setup on both an engine dyno (flywheel HP) and on a chassis dyno (rear wheel HP). I got (I'm going from memory here, but I think these are correct):
NA: 425 rwHP / 486 flywheel = 87.4% = 12.6% loss
1-stage N2O: 557 rwHP / 635 flywheel = 87.7% = 12.3% loss
2-stage N2O: 672.5 rwHP / 765 flywheel = 87.9% = 12.1% loss
It would appear for a "stockish" HP setup, you could use 13% loss with some confidence.
Just for comparison purposes, the dyno HP is with complete intake and exhaust, as it would be installed in the car (there was no alternator or PS, though). The chassis dyno was through a Street Twin with steel flywheel, 3" chrome moly DS (19#), 3.73 gears in a Strange 12-bolt with 800# posi, and 17x9.5" wheels with 275/40-17 tires.
[EDIT] With a topic like "Drivetrain", this should have been posted in (surprise) the "Drivetrain" forum
