Downshifting

I went and drove a 95 Z-28 with an M6.
My question is is there a lock on the gears so that you can't downshift into them if your going to fast.

Only on reverse. It's up to you to not mess up the other ones.

As long as you're not a clutch stabber, this is generally not a problem.

x2. I almost want to say first as well but I've never tried to downshift into first at higher speed.

I don't mean downshifting at high speeds...i mean downshifting into into first as i'm coming up to a stoplight or something like that. It doesn't let me do that till i'm goin real slow like say 5 mph.

You'll have an awful time getting the synchros to mesh if you're going more than ~50mph and the revs aren't pre-matched.

I got another question since I do a decent amount of highway driving. When you have cruise control on will it automatically shutoff when you disengage the clutch.
Thanks

Yes, it will disengage when the brake or clutch is pressed.
