Weak link in the 12 bolt.

Has anybody brake a 12 bolt with an automatic? How about a manual? What power level were you at and what exactly broke. I'm just wondering what the weak link is and if there is anything that can be done to strengthen it.

I twisted the 1350 yoke on my Strange 12 bolt. It would rock back and forth with the flat spots down. Strange sent me a new one at cost and said it had been heat treated differently. I guess Ill find out this year if it is any good.

A buddy of mine was pushing 900HP through a 12-bolt, running a 3,900# 30th SS convertible into the 9's. The only problem he ever had with it was burning up the 9-disc standard posi, when the engine was only making about 750HP. He didn't realize you could buy a stronger 15 (or is it 14-??) -disc HD Eaton as an option. I have the HD eaton, and I've done 6K Street Twin clutch dumps with mine, on really sticky slicks, and never had a problem. The only people I've heard having problems with the 12-bolt are guys that run 15 passes every week, with manual trannies.
