double checking on pinion angle (measures inside)

okay, just want to double check that i set the pinion angle right before i take it up to the track. the rearend is set up at a -6* and the driveshaft is at a +3*. i want the angle to be -3*.

EDIT: those numbers dont seem right. bmr's directions say that a -6* rear end angle subtracted from a +4 driveshaft angle= -2 degrees.

using the numbers above: 3*- -6*= should equal 3+6= 9*...

You need a "(pinon) \/ (driveshaft)" facing down. The difference between the two angles needs to be whatever you want the pinion angle to be. If your pinion is pointing down at 6deg from horizontal, and your driveshaft is pointing down at 3deg from the horizontal, I would agree that it sounds like you have a 9deg pinion angle. You are measuring both pieces from the same side, correct????

Re: double checking on pinion angle (measures inside)

okay, the lady at bmr informed me that i want the back end of the torque arm facing down. which would make the v point up (thus raising the front end of the of the rear end). i didnt think this sounded right, but i just did it (looks like ill be changing it back to the other way). i wasnt measuring from the same side of the angle finder either. i figured that out a few minutes ago. i was trying to get a negative number on one side and a positive number on the other. makes sense now that there just has to be a 2-3 degree angle difference. so a -6 rearend and a -3 driveshaft number would make a pinion angle of -3 degrees? that makes more sense to me. i think i read into this thing too much. thanks for the info.
