Doing the T-56 switch, got questions

Alright im looking at everything, have a 6 speed that i wanna buy, actually there are two, one is claiming it jumps out of third, would that just be a replacement of third gear? that would be a lot cheaper than the other remanufactured one, although the remanufactured one has a 12 month warranty. anyways back to my question. Do i need a new bellhousing or can i use the one from my automatic? Is there any other place that i can get the small parts from like the console other than off ebay where there aren't any right now. one last question, is this a good auction for the pedals? $50-$60?

Thanks for any replies

Not sure about the 3rd gear thing, but you WILL need to get the bellhousing suited for the 4th gen. The T56 is a universal transmission so it's manufactured with just the tranny case itself. It is mated to different engines by the use of a seperate and specific bellhousing (you bolt the bellhousing to the engine first, then bolt the trans to the bellhousing.... about 6 bolts IIRC).

When i did the conversion i didn't want to go parts chasing so i found a swap kit... unfortunately the company i used has changed or moved so i can't point you to them ( speedautomotive.com ). You could search some salvage yards and see if they have any wrecked M6 LT1s (camaro or firebird... doesn't matter.... mine came from a 97 trans am)

Here are a couple of my old posts:

[edit]- BTW, you WILL need to find a Borg Warner T-56, not a tremec. The tremec unit is designed for the LS1s... it has a longer input shaft. Just look for one out of a 93-97 f-body and you'll be fine. And the tremec t-56 isn't holding it's rep for being as tough and reliable as the BW unit too.
