Re: doing burnout...

are you sure you burned the tires? Not the clutch? It can be done as it will smoke also

Re: doing burnout...

how did you burnout? if you did it right it should have been push clutch in, get on gas, then quickly shift foot on clutch to brakes, and then burn em up

if you just had the clutch in and stomped on the gas keeping the clutch in, yeah you burned your clutch instead

Re: doing burnout...

yeah I saw smoke coming from from engine too...im sure I got the the tires smoking also though. what i did was held the clutch down with my left foot and gas with my right. then sort of with my left foot got onto the brake really fast. (i don't have a linelock)

Re: doing burnout...

Yep, sounds like you smoked the clutch. Just drive it easy for the next few days and see how it does. If it gradually gets better and returns to a "normal" feel and doesn't slip, it'll be fine. If you REALLY smoked it and glazed the friction material too badly, it will slip almost constantly and will have to be replaced.

Re: doing burnout...

its a 5 speed so im assuming its a v6, i had a 95 v6, and i believe i payed 160 for a stock clutch and around 200ish for a certified installation, but i ended up ****ing up the master clutch cylinder also so in all it was about 500 to fix it

Re: doing burnout...

call around and ask for some prices on just replacing your clutch. they should be able to tell you the maximum amount they can charge for this job.

$160 for the clutch
+$480 labor at $80 hr for 6 hours =$640

just a guess but would say a should could easily do it in 6 hours. I know I could

Re: doing burnout...

They replaced the transmission clutch and flywheel for 260.00 plus clutch price. But try to steer clear of dealers.
