Will it cause my trans to work harder if I go from 3.73 to 4.56 gears? Just aking because I want to know if I have to upgrade my trans over a gear swap.

 

What are you using 4.56 gears for? You will be around 3k rpm in overdrive. No it does not really make it work harder, just spin more.

 

To answer the question,going to a higher numerical gear(3.73 to 4.56) will create a higher mechanical advantage between the engine,trans,driveshaft,u-joints versus the carrier and axles.A higher mechanical advantage reduces stress on those parts before the gears and increases stress on those parts after the gears.
