Question Disable the lock up?

I was reading a write in gm high test http://www.gmhightechperformance.com...vy_z28_review/ and it was talkinga bout blot ons you could do and down thought they wrote this about lock up

As for the second area of opportunity, eliminating converter lock-up, we feel we're going through the traps at far too low an engine speed--around 4900 rpm. TGOW launches hard and rockets through First and Second gear, but noses over dramatically midway through Third with lock-up, dumping about 300 rpm in the process. Dyno tuning has shown peak power to come at 5600 rpm, well above our current trap speed rpm. This explains the weak trap speed relative to ET and could possibly account for a tenth or more in lost ET. It's nothing $10 and a trip to Radio Shack can't cure, namely an in-line switch to disable the converter lock-up, and a 15-ohm resistor to trick the computer into thinking the solenoid is engaged.

Is this worth doing to improve ET and how do you do this with a resistor?

If their transmission had been built correctly, it would've never went into lock-up in the quarter mile.

They normally don't...even in a stock vehicle. My guess is, yours won't.

ya i dont know why it would lock at wot except with a stock tune in 4th gear...
my suggestion would be to get a good stall...pick up 4-6 tenths and mph

Unless the tuning had been altered or theres some problem the 4L60E cannot and should not lockup the converter at WOT period to start with so whatever they are doing sounds like they are undoing something they did wrong to start with

Mine is doing this as well, Locking up about half way threw third in the quarter mile. What could be causing this? I know The car would be faster if it wasnt locking up and dropping rpm,s Threw the traps.

Well I did some research and apparently the pcm commands lock up at 95 mph in third and 4th gear at 93% and 100% throttle, So it sounds like a tuning issue?

I would absolutly agree it should never lock up at full throttlw of course a 94 would generally be from tunibg perhaps they didnt know what was going on at that end
