This is old.. may be unrelated but I NEVER found the below info anywhere.. all I found was people talking about brake caliper and rotor misfits... so I bought an LS1 axle for my LT1.... it didnt have the brakes so I had to use my LT1 brakes on the new LS1 axle.... NO NO NO they are not compatible, the LT1 and LS1 axle shafts are about 1/18 to 1/16 different in length, just enough to confuse the shjt out of you, the housings, bearings, spider gears are exactly the same.

All 4th gen axle housings are infact the exact same dimenstions, LT1's and LS1's use different length axles..

SAME HOUSING - means you can swap axles and brakes... just keep LT1 axles with LT1 brakes/mounts and LS1 Brake/Mounts/axles together when you swap... if you have the entire axle (LS1 or LT1 brakes + axle assembled) then all you have to worry about is the parking brake really.
