difference between 91 and 96 rear diff?
difference between 91 and 96 rear diff?
What is the difference in width, mounts, offset, internals. etc between a diff out of 91 TA and a 96 Z28?

Re: difference between 91 and 96 rear diff?
The 96 is approx. 2" wider on both sides and the internals are the same unless you have the traction control sensor ring on the ring gear. They physically bolt up the same way with all the external part that interchange. It will make the tires stick out a bit more though.

Check this thread on the "Wheels and Tires" forum:

Strange has the dimensions of their "bolt-in" replacement rears for the 3rd and 4th Gens on their website. The drawings show that the 3rd Gen rear is 3" wider than the 4th Gen rear. I've had 3rd Gen people tell me that this is wrong, and that the difference is actually 4" wider. Not sure why Strange would build their direct replacments exactly 3" wider, if this were the case.
