Little grind while rowing into 2nd gear.

This just started today...

I was crusing along.. and after making a right turn in 1st gear... a punched the gas little (not WOT) kinda gradual. So I get up to 4,000 rmps and I press the clutch, and row into second, and the gears seem to grind just a little...

So I figure.. well maybe I just let the clutch up to fast.. or didn't put it fully in gear or whatever... I thought it was me. So then I try it again.. same thing. And then one more time.. same thing.

So now.. after the car was sitting for a bit.. I though.. maybe I'm just having terrible luck with the clutch... So I try again, so this time.. I try something different. I punch the gas, not WOT, get up to 4000 rmps in 1st gear, then slammed the clutch in and HELD it, then rowed into 2nd gear.. and it still happend.

It's not a huge grind... but it vibrates the shifter a little and is loud enough to have me worried now. It doesn't happen all the time. Only if I "get on it" If I get it up to 4000 rpms but shift like you would doing normal street driving, and not slamming it into second.. it doesn't seem to happen.

Anyone have any ideas?? The only thing I have done to the transmission in the past month is change the oil. I put in Mobil 1 ATF.

I don't know anything about tranny's.. thanks a lot!

Ok... I've got it narrowed down now..

It only happens when I shift into second fast. The rpms mean nothing.. I was idling.. and just to test.. I put it in nuetral, held the clutch, and slammed it into 2nd.. and it grinded a bit.

I really hope this isn't something severe... any help I would really appreciate.

Thanks

I just remembered... my clutch is almost gone.. if I let it out slowly.. it doesn't stall my car..

I don't know if that means anything at all... but figured it might be worth mensioning. Maybe it doesn't fully disengage so it grinds a bit when shifting fast into 2nd??

I am almost certain your 1st to 2nd gear synchronizer is out of sync. If all the other gears work, I don't think it would be the clutch.

Synch. is most likely the prob. My Jeep was $800 to fix. They replace them all once they are in their. Parts are like $40. Labor was $760.
